“Sale to dcb Construction executives will ensure that the company maintains the same high standards while helping it adapt and grow into the future.”

DENVER – dcb Construction Company, Inc. today announced that Dan McComb and Scott King have acquired the company from owner John Barna. Both McComb and King have worked closely with the management team at dcb Construction and are familiar with the company’s business and culture – McComb has served as dcb Construction CFO and Director of Operations for the past six years, and King has served on the dcb Construction Board of Directors for the past four years.

As part of the acquisition, McComb has assumed the role of president and King is now CFO. Barna will remain with dcb Construction, where he will focus on customer sales and support, as well mentor and provide guidance to the new leadership team and employees. Barna’s decision to sell the company is driven by his desire to ensure an orderly succession for employees and clients, and continued business growth.

“As I evaluated options to ensure that dcb Construction was positioned to continue to grow, evolve and innovate – not just for the next few years but for the next few decades – one option stood above all others,” said Barna. “Dan and Scott are uniquely qualified to take dcb Construction forward, ensuring that the company maintains the same high standards while helping it adapt and grow. I have every confidence in their ability to succeed, ensuring that employees, clients and partners will continue to have great experiences.”

Over the past 57 years, dcb Construction has earned a reputation for delivering the highest-quality design-build construction projects. The company has completed nearly 2,000 projects in the Rocky Mountain region and across the country, and it continues to be a pioneer in design-build construction.

“I selected dcb Construction to build our 700,000 square-foot facility at Denver International Airport, and the experience was exceptional,” said Charles Billera, vice president of Operations of Fine Airport Parking. “I am thrilled that Dan and Scott have acquired dcb Construction because I know that they will maintain the same high standards and commitment to quality that the company is known for. The future of dcb Construction is bright.”

“For nearly 60 years, dcb Construction has pioneered and perfected the design-build model of construction under John’s leadership, and I am excited about what is next for the company,” McComb said. “I am also honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead dcb Construction and its talented and dedicated employees.”

“After being on the board for the past few years and seeing firsthand the dedication of the employees to the company’s success, I feel very fortunate to be able to partner with Dan in continuing John’s vision,” King added. “It is not very often you get the chance to help lead a company that has great people, a successful business model and a partner with proven success in the industry.”
