Greeley, Colorado – The city of Greeley has a waste management challenge that it’s solving with the construction of a transfer station planned to open in 2025. City leaders and developers will gather on October 15 to celebrate the groundbreaking at the planned site. With its rapidly growing population and housing boom, Greeley produces significant waste that the closest landfill in Larimer County will no longer accept due to its foreseen closing in 2025. With the transfer station, the community will gain a facility to temporarily deposit and consolidate non-hazardous waste locally before being transported to landfills outside the city. The transfer station will significantly improve waste management by reducing transportation time for drivers’ transportation costs for the city and households fuel consumption for operators wear and tear on roads noise pollution from trucks. Named “Northern Colorado Disposal Services,” the state-of-the-art facility will be fully enclosed to prevent odors and reduce its environmental impact. No incineration will occur on-site. City leaders and the community see the station as a “problem solved” and are coming together to celebrate its groundbreaking.
The groundbreaking is open to the public, including the media. Date: Tuesday, October 15 Time: 9:00 AM Location: Apricot Ave Greeley, CO 80631 Parking will be available on 16th Street – East of 1st Ave
