Management

John R. Barna, Jr.

Principal / President

John has worked in the design and construction industry in the Denver area since 1972. After earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Nebraska, he worked as a structural engineer for Rocky Mountain Prestressed Concrete before joining dcb Construction Company, Inc. in 1977. He held several positions including Project Manager, Vice President of Construction, Director of Operations, before assuming the role of President and CEO in 1982. With his help and guidance,  dcb Construction Company inc. has  become one of the leading commercial and industrial Design-Build firms in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Along the way, John has been activity involved in industry and community service. He is a graduate of Leadership Denver and the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry’s 50 for Colorado. He has  served as the National President of the Systems Builder Association and its local Chapter, is  a Chairman of the Butler Manufacturing National Builders Advisory Council,  is currently the president of the Building Systems Institute, and is one of the founding members of the Colorado Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors. He has also served on several Boards including the local Chapter of the American Arbitration Association, Shoshoni Youth Ranch, Kelley Western, Colorado Springs National Bank and Board of Advisors of CityWide Banks, multi-term President of the Alameda West Kiwanis Club, and has been honored as "Mentor of the Year" by the Colorado "I Have a Dream" Foundation .

Dan McComb

Dan McComb is Chief Financial Officer and Construction Operations Manager for dcb Construction Company, Inc.. As a senior member of the dcb Construction management team, he is responsible for the day to day management of construction finance and accounting departments in addition to asset and risk management.

Mr. McComb brings over 25 years of hands on accounting and operations experience. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Loras College in Iowa. He brings invaluable experience in residential, commercial and retail construction management and is practiced with budgets over 25 million. He also serves on the board of dcb Construction Company as Secretary and Treasurer.

Mr. McComb is a member of the Construction Financial Management Association and has served on various community related, non-profit boards in Colorado. He lives in Englewood, Colorado with his two children and is active in skiing, biking, hiking and coaching and playing hockey.

Known for his appreciation of the design build process offered by dcb, he has developed an expertise in steering his clients though the integrated approach of marrying the design and construction disciplines required to successfully meet his clients operational needs while delivering the job at the established budget. His continued education has resulted in earning a LEED accreditation and an MBA.

Michael Bray, AIA is Director of Design for dcb Construction Company, Inc. He is responsible for the macro management of all design related projects, overseeing the in-house architectural design staff and supporting business development activities. A licensed architect, he has a comprehensive background in the A/E/C industry and in collaborating with owners, developers, consultants and governmental jurisdictions.

With an extensive history of managing all aspects of the architectural process from site selection to building occupation, Mr. Bray has significant experience across a broad and varied range of large-scale commercial, retail and industrial projects. Combining over 30 years of advanced education in the Bachelor of Science degree program at the University of Colorado and senior level positions in nationally recognized architectural firms throughout his career, Mr. Bray’s qualifications include original design work, due diligence studies, building code analysis, quality assurance, on-site construction coordination, and the day to day responsibilities of business side activities.

Growing up in a military family, Michael has traveled and lived in several states and European countries, calling Colorado home since the late 1960’s. In his free time Michael enjoys spending quality time with his family.

Michael Bray, AIA is Director of Design for dcb Construction Company, Inc. Rick Waters

Rick Waters works in sales and marketing leading a team of metal building experts providing design and cost estimating support for Denver Commercial Builders Construction Company projects that utilize pre engineered steel building systems as a structural solution. Mr. Waters provides design assist, supply, and erect services to other general contractors that do not have in house steel building resources as a subcontractor.

Mr. Waters has over 30 years experience in the commercial / industrial construction business. He graduated from the University of South Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Finance. He brings a long history of experience with 3D modeling to support BIM design software, Concrete foundation work; along with Tilt Up Concrete Wall Systems integrated into pre engineered steel building structures both as a marketer and a builder.

Mr. Waters serves general contractors who want to outsource pre engineered steel building design development and estimating to a seasoned professional rather than adding that payroll and overhead to their own company.

Mark Delgado

Mark started his professional design career as an intern architect in his native San Diego back in 1999. Mark’s passion for the “design” component of dcb’s design-build philosophy has helped make him an invaluable resource to the company. Mark’s primary focus is leading the front end of dcb’s design services, including site due-diligence investigations, design and project visualization, programming and guiding projects through regulatory agencies. Integral to dcb’s design-build mission, Mark works closely with his team to ensure clients’ visions are realized to their fullest potential.

Mark’s professional and educational background in both architecture and urban design have helped him lead a wide range of project types including master planning, large commercial projects, institutional, transit oriented developments, and environmentally controlled self-storage facilities, just to name a few. The diversity of project types helps Mark always maintain an open minded approach to problem solving, particular to each clients’ objectives.

Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Woodbury University School of Architecture, and a post-professional master’s degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Mark gets along well with his fellow dcb employees and clients despite being an avid fan of the San Diego Chargers and Padres.

Jason Tolliver is an active Principal of Reconn Construction Services. Mr. Tolliver partnered with dcb Construction in 2011 and began Reconn, bringing over 25 years of experience working in various aspects of the constructions services industry, most notably in ground-up, remodel, and tenant finish commercial retail construction. Under his leadership Reconn has completed projects with contracts ranging in scope from $100,000 to $3 million, and for entities including Vitamin Cottage, American Dental, Lens Crafters, Levis, NTB , Guitar Center, CST Corner Stores, and Dollar General. Jason has built tremendous relationships with clients and subcontractors, and his focus remains on quality and customer satisfaction. Mr. Tolliver is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also a member of many industrial related programs such as ISNetworld. He lives in Houston, TX with his dog Elvis and is active in hunting, and frequent trips to his property on the Conejos River to fly fish

Whether it is a ground up or a tenant remodel, Matt’s objective stays the same; to complete projects ahead of schedule without sacrificing quality all while maintaining and further developing client relationships.

Mr. Sanford is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and is an involved affiliate of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Acting as a qualifying agent, he holds many State Licenses under the National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA). Helives in Seabrook, TX and is an active in hunting and fishing not only in Texas but also New Mexico, and on his ranch in Colorado.
